MPA Wins TfL Grant Funding to Continue to Support Cycle Safety

The Mineral Products Association (MPA) has been announced as a recipient of Transport for London grant funding to help deliver the Construction Logistics and Community Safety (CLOCS) initiative across the industry and UK.

Activites that the MPA will be engaged with include extending the awareness of the CLOCS campaign to drivers and businesses across the mineral products sector including both MPA and non-MPA member companies.

Both the Mineral Products and Construction industries have made great progress in operational site safety in recent years and CLOCS extends that focus to include the road safety of vulnerable road users such as pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists. CLOCS requires HGV drivers to recieve additional safety awareness training and for delivery vehicles to be fitted with equipment to help drivers avoid collisions such as sensors and/or cameras to eliminate vehicle blind spots. CLOCS also requires contractors and clinets to improve the safety of construction sites for delivery drivers through actions such as safe unloading facilities and safe site access and egress and better planning of deliveries with suppliers.

The MPA CLOCS initative will be promoted across as regions using social media widely to endorse the initative.

MPA will ensure that CLOCS will be promoted across all regions using social media widely to endorse the initative.

The MPA will also be promoting CLOCS to political audiences and industry regulators, including Local Authorities. New publications and industry-specific cases will raise awreness of the commercial benefits to companies and drivers supporting CLOCS.

Commenting Jerry McLaughlin, MPA's Director of Economics and Public Affairs, stated "I am delighted that the MPA will continue to support the delivery of CLOCS as a key partner organisation. Improving vulnerable road user safety continues to be a core issue for MPA and we look forward to working with industry, Transport for London and other supporters on delivering these projects. "

Ends.
