2017 MPA/RTPI Mineral Planning Conference Links Minerals to Economic Growth

MPA Sales Suggest Continued Impetus in Construction in 2017Q1

Construction market demand for mineral products was higher in 2017Q1 compared with the previous quarter, providing some evidence of continued impetus in construction activity at the start of the year. Mineral products such as aggregates and ready-mixed concrete (RMC) are major elements of the construction supply chain, particularly in the earlier stages of projects, so the MPA results point to sustained level of construction activity on the ground.

MPA Responds to the Spring Budget

The Mineral Products Association (MPA) has welcomed measures announced in the Government's Spring Budget on 8th March, including the freeze on the Aggregates Levy indexation for 2017-2018 and proposals for a new set of controls on energy policy costs to replace the Levy Control Framework, alongside other plans to encourage investment, promote trade, and secure the availability of skills.
