MPA brings Vision Zero to Hillhead

‘Vision Zero’ the foundation for MPA’s Health & Safety plan until 2025, provides this year’s focus for the Mineral Products Association (MPA) stand (PB 19 in the main pavilion).

MPA’s Health & Safety specialists - Health & Safety Manager, Tony Entwistle and Special Advisors Chris Leese and, newly joined former HSE Chief Inspector of Quarries, Colin Mew, are on-hand to welcome stand visitors.

They are able to explain ‘Vision Zero’, and the strategy to focus on ‘The Fatal 6’, the high potential hazards responsible for most of the fatalities and serious injuries in our industry.

Also, to outline how the MPA’s ‘Safer by …’ initiatives and resources will play an integral part in helping members deliver the goals outlined in Vision Zero. Helping to ensure that everyone goes home safe and well everyday.

A range of easily deployable resources are available free of charge from the MPA stand including:

  • The newly launched MPA Sharing good practice 2021/22. Summarises the winning innovations and developments from the MPA Health and Safety Awards 2021
  • MPA Health and Safety Member Support’. This explains the range of initiatives being delivered by MPA which support Vision Zero.
  • Many other publications on how to help organisations eliminate or mitigate hazards associated with the ‘The Fatal 6’, including on Isolation, Workplace Transport Interface and Working from Height.
  • Managing the Health and Wellbeing of employees.

Chris Leese said: “Using ‘guiding principles’ and consistent messaging we have been working in collaboration with other industry bodies to provide members with the resources to help improve on site behaviours and safety practices as part of MPA’s mission to eliminate ‘The Fatal 6’ incidents from operations. Please come and review what is available to help make you and your colleagues safer and healthier at work.

The team would welcome the opportunity to meet with members and anyone else within the industry who would like to discuss any health and safety issues with us – we are all ‘Safer by Sharing’.”

Ends.
