Our industry has greater potential than most to help the UK make real progress in maximising the sustainable use of its available resources. The applies as much to beneficial use of what would otherwise be landfilled as waste as it does to creating new opportunities in the natural environment. Through the archaeological investigation work that it funds, the industry also helps to achieve a better understanding of our heritage and protection of what should not be disturbed.
In terms of recycling aggregates and using waste-derived fuels, we are an international leader. Likewise, we are recognised by bodies such as Natural England and the RSPB as an outstanding contributor to the nation’s biodiversity targets.
