Jobs in minerals
The mineral products industry employs around 25,000 directly and direct and indirect employment exceeds 60,000. Many of these jobs are in rural areas where other employment opportunities can be scarce.
The range of career opportunities is huge and is as relevant to someone looking at a change of direction in middle age as it is to a school leaver or a graduate. For some the great appeal of the industry will lie in working outdoors in a rugged environment as part of a dedicated team. Those who aspire to do so might move from plant operative to foreman and onwards maybe to quarry manager and operations director.
But minerals can also offer planning, environmental, health and safety, and information technology roles. It has the sales, marketing, administration, human resources, finance and procurement needs of any large industry. If you want to know more, visit the Careers in Quarrying website.
