Repeat Success as QPA Doubles Up at TAF Awards

The QPA has repeated 2006's major success at the Trade Association Forum's Best Practice Awards by landing two prestigious prizes against stiff national competition. This year's scheme received entries from some 300 trade associations, of which nearly 60 went on through as finalists. Prizes are awarded across 17 categories united in sharing best practice on effective representation for members.

The first QPA honour of the night was awarded to www.qpa.org which picked up Website of the Year. The redesigned site, which was supported by editorial contributions and advice from many QPA members, was the unanimous victor in a hard-fought category. Judges remarked that the QPA had "succeeded in producing a site that was both educational and a valuable means of promoting the industry that it serves". The QPA's public website is no stranger to success, with this week's award bolstering the CiB national prize for website design picked up in May.

The second recognition went to www.safequarry.com which took home the Social Initiative Award. Judges saw the groundbreaking site as a "major step forward in communications that is benefiting the health and safety of workers throughout the industry". The site benefits heavily from QPA members contributions in sharing health and safety best practice and innovative toolbox talks. The trophy will share the cabinet with the UEPG award the project won earlier in the spring.

Both these online resources contribute to the 120,000 visits that the QPA's family of websites enjoys every month. This amounts to almost 1.5 million people a year making the link between this vital industry and our everyday lives. And with 57 other big hitting Trade Associations competing in the Trade Association Forum Awards, the QPA is officially providing class-leading support for the quarry products industry.
